Ghislaine MacBride riding her 2026 Can-Am Spyder on a mountain highway in British Columbia

About Ghislaine

79 years young — and just getting started.

For much of my life I was known as Madame MacBride. This chapter has three wheels.

Meet Ghislaine

My name is Ghislaine MacBride.

I’m a 79-year-young retired French Immersion teacher, and riding a Spyder has been a dream of mine since I was 50 years old.

For nearly three decades, that dream stayed with me. I made myself a promise: I wanted to make it happen before my 80th birthday on May 30, 2027. And now I have.

My brand-new 2026 Can-Am Spyder represents much more to me than a motorcycle. It represents possibility, courage, adventure, and the decision to stop saying “someday” and start saying “today.” This is the story of where that decision takes me.

Madame MacBride

Learning didn’t stop when I left the classroom.

For much of my life, I was known as Madame MacBride, a French Immersion teacher helping young people learn, grow, and discover what they were capable of achieving.

Retirement opened a different chapter. And this chapter has three wheels. I have always believed that learning doesn’t stop when we leave the classroom, and adventure doesn’t stop when we reach a certain age.

At 79, I am becoming a new rider and taking on an experience I’ve dreamed about for almost 30 years. I’m not doing this to prove that age doesn’t matter. I’m doing it because the dream still matters.

And if sharing my journey encourages even one person to revisit something they’ve always wanted to do, every kilometre will have been worthwhile.

The purpose behind Spyder Journey

Your dream is still waiting for you.

Spyder Journey is about motorcycles — but it is also about much more than motorcycles. It’s about the dreams we carry quietly for years.

  • The trip we keep postponing.
  • The hobby we’ve always wanted to try.
  • The business we’ve thought about starting.
  • The place we’ve always wanted to visit.
  • The adventure we tell ourselves we’ll begin one day.

My dream happened to be a Spyder. What is yours?

I waited almost 30 years to begin this journey, and now I want my story to remind people that there doesn’t have to be an age limit on excitement, curiosity, learning, or adventure.

You may have to adapt. You may have to start slowly. Your journey may look different from someone else’s. But different does not mean impossible.

Don’t let the calendar decide when your dreams are over.

A machine that fits

Sometimes a dream takes the right adjustment.

At 4'11", making my Spyder comfortable is part of the adventure — including a kit to raise the brake pedal.
